Voila! Lace Inspiration

Today's Voila - French Inspiration is a bit upside down.
Not the usual hostess or project.  Jill asked me to "guest host" this morning as she has some things that needed her last minute attention.  Normally, I have lots of projects in the oven with a bit of French flair but this week I've been working on a few lacy treats.  But they definitely have that Voila factor!  The first are these old suitcases.
They were already a shade of white so it was super easy to cover them with layers of lace and doilies.

The other project wasn't quite so easy.  Recovering upholstered pieces is NOT one of Mr. Blessings favorite things!

These chairs were so ugly to begin with (and we got them free) so I figured we couldn't make them any worse.  It was a good time to try out something different.  We painted the entire thing, upholstery and all!  Initially I wanted to stencil it with a French image or wording but I couldn't get what I wanted to fit right. Then this idea popped into my head and I just had to give it a whirl.

And Voila!
So there really isn't anything French about my projects this week but the chair was initially French inspired.  That counts, right?!

Voila - French Angels

I just adore the old French angels image that we are using this year for French Cupboard's Holiday Market!  I love it so much that I've been making all kinds of little holiday gifts with it.  This was a super simple and cheap gift.  Vanilla candles from the dollar store, old sheet music, a bit of glass glitter and some twine.  I used hot glue to put it all together (because I'm a glutton for having at least one finger burned everyday) but a glue stick would work just as well.

Our sweet angel, Jill (Gypsy Brocante) isn't able to be our hostess today but she will be back!  In the meantime, I hope that you'll join us this week as we begin the countdown to Christmas and enjoy some French Inspiration.

Voila! - French Inspiration

I was reading HERE about how the elite French in the 1700's used to bathe in zinc tubs outdoors and then drain the water into their gardens (hence the term "garden tub").  I don't know if I would actually bathe outside (other than on my honeymoon, when we got stranded on an island... that doesn't count, right?!).  But I did get the chance to enjoy the idyllic setting of a zinc tub on the prairie when we were out at the Na-Da farm sale last weekend.  Wouldn't you love to have a little piece of peace like that?!

Voila! French Inspiration

It's starting to feel like Spring... finally!  So I thought I'd share my floral French Inspiration.

A sweet basket of flowers with a french linen liner.

What is your French Inspiration?

Plain Vanilla

Believe it or not, this crocheted vest arrived in a bundle of lace that I puchased on ebay a couple years ago.  Yep, just like this.  Just thrown in a bag of scraps - Like a gift from the Magnolia Pearl fairy!
Because it's a lovely ivory color, it's fun to add accessories and change the look of it.  This week its a rosette and tea-dyed scarf.
I love the plain vanilla palette!
And now I double check all the bags of lace scraps that I purchase!!

Goodbye Black Friday - Hello French Inspiration

We have so many fun new things going on at French Cupboard right now!  But this is far & away the one I'm doing flip flops over!!  Have you ever come across something that's so wonderful it makes you realize that you've been wanting that very thing and didn't even know it?   That's how I feel about Voila!

French Cupboard is hosting a weekly French Inspiration blog hop/party starting next Thursday (March 3rd)!
We'll all link up and show off our lovely bits of french-ness (that's a word, right?!).   If it's French or French inspired, we want to see it.  It might be something authentically French or perhaps a project that was French inspired.  Maybe you visited a shoppe with french-y decor.  Vintage, new, handmade... Anything with French Inspiration!   I think there's a lot of sweet French style out there for us to share here in blogland so let's bloghop every Thursday and see where it takes us!

Miss Gypsy Brocante will be our hostess each week and I'll be linking up for the fun from my personal blog.  Please say that you'll don a party hat and join us!  If you haven't participated in a blog party before, just click the photo below for some helpful how-to tips:

Just as it would be with any beautiful transformation, we are sad to see Vintage Black Friday go.  But we think that this new weekly party will allow us to share even more breathtaking things!  And who knows, VBF may return from time to time.  Until then....

Link up with us EVERY THURSDAY to share your French Inspiration!

Here's a button for your sidebar.  You can link it back to this post.
